1. What is Punctuation?

Definition (English):
Punctuation is the use of special marks in writing to make the meaning clear and the sentence easy to read.

Hindi Meaning:
पंक्चुएशन (विराम चिह्न) वे चिन्ह होते हैं जो वाक्य को स्पष्ट, सही और समझने योग्य बनाते हैं।

👉 बिना विराम चिह्न के वाक्य का अर्थ बदल सकता है।

Example:

  • Let’s eat, Ram. (आओ राम, खाना खाएं।)

MAIN PUNCTUATION MARKS


1. Full Stop (.)

Use:

  • At the end of a statement.
  • After abbreviations.

Example:

  • She is a good girl.
  • Dr. Sharma is absent.

Hindi Explanation:

पूर्ण विराम (। / .) का प्रयोग कथन वाक्य के अंत में किया जाता है।


2. Comma (,)

Use:

  1. To separate items in a list.
  2. After introductory words.
  3. To separate clauses.
  4. Before conjunctions (and, but, so).

Example:

  • I bought apples, mangoes, and grapes.
  • Yes, I am ready.
  • He was tired, but he finished his work.
