They provide us with fruits, vegetables, wood, medicines, and many other useful products. Many birds and animals depend on trees for food and shelter. Trees also help in preventing soil erosion and floods by holding the soil with their strong roots. They attract rain and help in maintaining the balance of nature. In cities, trees reduce noise and air pollution and make the surroundings cool and pleasant. Without trees, life on Earth would become very difficult for humans as well as animals. As the saying goes, “Trees are the lungs of the Earth.” Another famous quote reminds us, “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago.
